About The University
IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur is among the pioneers in Rajasthan in imparting high quality education to women in different streams. It is known for excellence in delivering value-based education to students and encourages them to think innovatively in different walks of life. It particularly focuses on preparing students to become world ready citizens, who are abreast to take any professional and social challenges with an educated and empowered mind. The IIS University (IISU) has been accredited by the NAAC under section 12B by UGC. As per MHRD evaluation, IISU is one amongst the 38 Deemed Universities across the country placed in category ‘A’. The University has been granted the membership of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and The Association of Commonwealth Universities, U.K. (ACU), also the membership of Association of Universities of Asia and Pacific (AUAP). At IISU, career education is imparted within the framework of Choice Based Credit System through instruction in different Schools and Centres. With an approximate strength of 4500 students, 250 faculty members and 150 supporting staff, the University offers a wide array of Semester based UG and PG programmes and research programmes leading to Ph.D., D.Sc. and D. Lit. degrees.
About the Department of Physics
The department of Physics (School of Physical Sciences) was established in July 1995 and has since grown into one of the major centres for teaching and learning at the University. The department offers undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral degree programmes. The department has state of the art infrastructure with well equipped laboratories, resources and trained technicians. Within a span of nearly 28 years the department has made remarkable progress in terms of quality of programmes offered by it. The department has taken a lead in introducing innovations in the curricula and pedagogy by way of introducing papers on latest concepts, including component of communications skills, Bio Physics, Medical Physics and Astrophysics in the syllabus of PG students and papers on Contemporary topics like Renewable Energy, Nanotechnology have been incorporated in the syllabus of B.Sc. (H) Physics. Software like MATHEMATICA, MATLAB, WIEN2K,Quantum Espresso, P-Spice, R, Python, Scilab and programming with C++ have been introduced in Practical courses at UG /PG level. At Department of Physics, research is being conducted in different areas, such as dielectric properties of solids and liquids at microwave frequencies, Electronic structure studies of materials by using software like WEIN2K and Quantum Espresso, deposition of thin films of materials by using vacuum coating thermal evaporation system, synthesis of nanoparticles using sol–gel and hydrothermal methods, renewable energy technology and designing of electronic circuits.
About The Centre For Nano Science & Technology (CNST)
The Centre for Nano Science and Nano Technology has been established at the University with an aim to provide multidisciplinary skill based education and research opportunities to the students, enabling them to participate in the development, design, characterization and application of nanomaterials. It offers programme which aim to make students industry ready and are helpful in opening job opportunities in the field of lubrication, environmental observing, sensors and controls, food science, forensics, military and national security, energy generation and storage, electronic industries and material science, including textiles, polymers, packaging, auto and aerospace industries, sporting goods, biotechnology, drug delivery and other medical related fields.
About The Centre For Research, Innovation & Training (CRIT)
Established in 2013, The Centre for Research, Innovation and Training (CRIT) organizes Seminars, Conferences, Workshops and Training Programmes to equip students and faculty members with the know-how of advanced research tools and techniques. Faculty members, Research Scholars and students from outside institutions are also given opportunity to register for various programmes and Research Methodology Workshops organized by CRIT. CRIT also provides sanction to student projects and faculty projects financed by the university to promote research activities on the university campus.
